Bronze crab pen tray by Masashi Natorigawa
Decorated with a crab in relief. Made by Japanese metalwork artist Natorigawa Masashi (b.1943). Marked to the obverse Masashi. Comes with the original wooden box.
Natorigawa Masashi (b.1943). Born in Nyuzen Town, Toyama Prefecture in 1943. Studied under the metalwork artist Suga Shoen II (1898-1979). Selected for the first time for the Nitten Exhibition in 1963 and thereafter many times. Selected for the first time for the Japan Contemporary Arts and Crafts Exhibition in 1965 and thereafter many times. Awarded the Grand Prize at the Toyama Prefectural Exhibition in 1968, the Contemporary Arts and Crafts Prize and the Yomiuri Newspaper Company Prize at the Japan Contemporary Arts and Crafts Exhibition in 1975 and an honorable mention at the Unfolding Tomorrow Japan New Craft Exhibition in 1980.
