Houzan was an author originally from Aichi Prefecture, known for his curious marbled glaze finishes on unglazed pots and works inspired by traditional Japanese ceramics. Shigaraki has been famous for its ceramic kilns since ancient times. The area is known for its clay beds, and local potters often use locally quarried clay. The works produced here are known as Shigaraki-yaki.
