Bonsai pot JTA8305 HATTORI
Elegant, antique and simple blue glazed bonsai pot, good patina, by master Hattori of Tokoname.
His real name is Hattori Tomoyuki and Hattori (Hatutori) gives his oven its name. Born in 1951, he graduated from the Institute of Applied Sciences at the University of Koblenz in West Germany (before German reunification in 1989). There he dedicated himself to the study of artistic ceramics. While working for a German company, in 1977 he began manufacturing bonsai pots. In 1980 he presented a shohin work for the first time at the national exhibition (Zenkoku Shobachi Meisakuten). Already in Japan he received the “Tokoname City Nagamitsu Ceramic Arts Prize” two consecutive years, in 1998 and 1999. He is one of the most beloved authors of Tokoname, on one of our last trips to Japan, we were sadly informed of his recent death.
