Tani Hiroyuki was born in 1940 in Saitama prefecture. He currently lives in Fukaya. His pseudonym comes from the fact that he was going to work in Muraku's workshop in Arashiyama (Kyoto). The Arashiyama kanji is written exactly on the Ranzan seal. His stage name is Ranzan Tani.
